Uitverkocht
Designed by Cor Alons for C. den Boer Gouda during the 1950s, this coffee table represents the refined simplicity that made Dutch modernism internationally respected. Rather than relying on ornament, Alons focused on proportion, craftsmanship and intelligent construction.
The gently curved teak sides appear almost sculptural, while the floating slatted magazine rack creates a sense of openness and lightness. Combined with the original glass top, the design feels remarkably contemporary more than seventy years after it was first produced.
Unlike many surviving examples, this table remains in remarkably original condition. The original glass top has been preserved, the teak has developed a warm and even patina over decades of careful use, and the construction remains solid and stable. Only minor traces of age are present, entirely consistent with a well-preserved vintage piece.
Furniture by Cor Alons appears only occasionally on the market, making this an increasingly desirable piece for collectors of Dutch Mid-Century Modern design. Whether placed in a minimalist interior or among other design classics, it is both a functional coffee table and an authentic piece of design history.
